What a difference a day makes
Sunday, 28 October 2007
Saturday saw us play at the Dudley Hotel, a good venue but with no punters. They obviously weren't expecting a rush because there was only one barmaid. She reckoned it's like that. Things seem to have been jumping at the club about a hundred and fifty yards away judging by the arrival of a fleet of police cars and vans. Maybe it was the policemen's ball!

Sammy Joannas - 26 October 2007
Sunday, 28 October 2007
Someone finally got a grip of Sammy Joannas. The last time we played here it was a bit sad. Although we had a good crowd, virtually all the beer was off (little yellow post it notes on each pump). Now the place has been transformed. First off, the stage has been moved, secondly, there was a full stock of beer. And finally, there is no longer a cover charge. The result was that the place was full, had a better atmosphere and is back to being a good music venue. Well done to all concerned! Oh, I nearly forgot - Happy Birthday to Mandy - you really are a Hoochie Coochie lady!

Newfield Inn - 15 September 2007
Sunday, 16 September 2007
What a brilliant place! When we arrived to set up, the place was empty and, to be honest, I thought we might end up playing to the bar staff. So we set up and, as if by magic, the place was full. Jane, the landlady, was very welcoming and the drinks tokens were a really nice touch. Jane said that she was looking forward to hearing a band with a saxophone as she just started learning to play alto sax. And what a night it turned out to be. The Newfield Inn has a good siized stage area and a very appreciative audience. Any bands booked there have a great place to play. For anyone who hasn't been to the Newfield Inn as a customer, you don't know what you are missing. With so few venues in and around Chester-Le-Street, we think that Jane has a winning formula. Good beer, good music and a great friendly atmosphere. If you haven't been, get yourself down there!

Booking Letters
Thursday, 23 August 2007

We always send out booking letters with posters. The booking letters have on the back the terms and conditions (as published on this website). We do this because of the way we have sometimes been messed about in the past. Looking at sites like Riffs, this seems to happen from time to time to all bands and appears to have happened quite a lot recently. Well today, we had a first. A landlady at a venue that shall remain nameless rang me to say that she was offended by the terms and conditions on the back of our booking confirmation and that she wanted to cancel. These are the same as those I sent with our previous booking confirmation back in February this year. "This is just a small pub not the Newcastle Arena and no other bands do this", she said. I can't speak for other people but when we do things, we try to do them properly.

Cancelled Gigs
Thursday, 09 August 2007

Anyone who has dealt with the band will know that we only cancel gigs if we really have to. Unfortuntely, for the weekend of 10/11 August 2007, this is a necessity, as Mick has trapped a nerve in his upper back/neck. This means that as well as doing an impression of quasimodo, he has no feeling in his fingers on one hand making it impossible to play the sax or harps. Apologies to anyone who was coming to see us. Mick should be okay in a week or so.
