What a night! After being warmly welcomed by Pam and Bev, this turned out to be cracking gig. Bev was a skeptic. "I don't like Rhythm and Blues", she said. Well, we cant resist a challenge and so we gave it our all. A fine mixture of Rock, Rhythm and Blues. The crowd were very responsive and, as an added bonus, we turned Bev around - she really enjoyed it. Pam (the licensee) was particularly pleased with the wide range of material and that it was "not the same old rock covers". But perhaps the best point in the night was when a guy came up at the end - not pissed. He said that he lives locally and watches all the bands at the Lord Nelson. He reckoned that we were the best band that had been on this year. Only one man's opinion but nice to hear nevertheless. We must be doing something right. From my perspective, with the new drummer Willie "sticks" Taylor bedded in, we are tighter than ever. I was particularly pleased with Robert Palmer's "Bad case of loving you" on its first public outing.
