This was not so much a beer festival as a wake! Apparently the organiser, Derek, has had a very difficult time. First he had licensing problems and this led to the beer being bottled with a single keg variety, instead of the 52 cask ales advertised on the web. We don't know how well it was advertised elsewhere but there were no street signs (other than at the venue) and, apparently, very few paying customers had been in on the previous night. There were only 11 on the afternoon despite there being two good bands - Lyndon Anderson (before us) and ourselves. Derek was not confident about the evening when the Baudelaire Bros and Groove Cats were to appear. The festival continues on Sunday with a plethora of bands. We can only hope that things pick up. After all this is a charity festival in aid of the Cumbria Air Ambulance. We would certainly have appreciated more of an audience.
